Toughened polyamide-6 moulding materials (I) comprise (A) 60-90 wt. % polyamide-6 (B) 8-35 wt. % acid modified EVA copolymer and (C) 0.5-5 wt .% acid modified EVA copolymer wax. USE/ADVANTAGE - (I) are useful for automobile construction and for the electronics, machine fabiation, construction, office machinery and household equipment industries. (I) has an even distribution of constituents and has high value of toughness, tensile strength and elasticity. In an example, polyamide-6 (78.5 kg, rel. soln. viscosity 2.9), acid modified EVA copolymer (20.0kg, melt index 1.2g/10 min. at 463 deg.K/21.9N, vinyl acetate content 24 wt.%, tert.-butylacrylate content 11 wt.%, acrylic acid content 2.5 wt.%) and acid modified EVA copolymer wax (1.5kg, viscosity 1600mm2/s at 403 deg.K, vinyl acetate content 15 wt.%, maleic acid anhydride content 2.5 wt.%) were mixed in an extruder at 500-525k at a throughput of 45 kg/hr. Pressed test pieces had the following characteristic values: tensile strength 52 N/mm2, transverse strenmgth 55N/mm2, transverse modulus 1790 N/mm2, notch impact strength 27 mJ/mm2 (298K) and 24 mJ/mm2 (233K). Test pieces comprising polyamide-6 only gave values of: tensile strength 52N/mm2, transverse strength 52N/mm2, transverse modulus 1750 N/mm2 and notch impact strength 20mJ/mm2 (298K) and 18mJ/mm2 (233K).
