The electrically insulated wire element has a portion of its length bent into the shape of a hairpin with a first terminal limb (11), a 180 deg. bend (10) and an opposite limb (9). Another portion is formed into a coil (19) surrounding the lower part of the hairpin, whose descending limb ends in another 180 deg. bend (20) with a short rise to a 90 deg. bend (8) into the top of the coil. The second terminal limb (15) is parallel to the first. ADVANTAGE - Easily machined device centres heating as nearly as possible to ends (2) of wire and floor of tank.
