The liq. (10) flows through the annular space between an outer jacket (11) and a coaxial inner tube (12) enclosing the iron core (13) of an electromagnet yoke (14) which protrudes through tubular supports (121) and has an external limb (114) wound with a coil (15). AC mains voltage is applied to the terminals (16) of the coil, and the flowing liq. is heated by induced current. The ends (122) of the inner tube are streamlined in order to minimise resistance to the flow. USE/ADVANTAGE - Esp. for foodstuffs, pref. 50 to 60 Hz mains current is used without problems of local overheating.
