Veneered mouldings (I) are produced by press-moulding a substrate (A) with several intermediate veneers (B) and a face veneer (C) with the aid of glue, pref. in the form of interposed glue face veneer is decolourised and/or pigmented, cemented and ground and provided with an insulating and/or varnish layer, and the moulding is cut as required. (C) and/or (B) are internally pigmented in batches under pressure at 105-115 deg.C in an aq. dye bath contg. a water-soluble or -dispersible binder resin (II) which is completely curable only at temps. above 115 deg.C, so that the resin is cured or post-cured during the final moulding process. USE/ADVANTAGE - By carrying out the time-consuming bleaching and pigmenting processes at the veneer-treatment stage, the invention enables the number of post-moulding treatment stages to be reduced; high-quality finished mouldings can be obtd. from raw veneers of relatively low quality, in a wide range of colours. The prods. (I) are used e.g. for internal linings in cars and for the prodn. of furniture.
