The dissipation of heat related to the surface (5) of the radiator by other forms of energy drain, namely by heat conduction and convection, is suppressed. The radiation heating is carried out with a surface heating element designed as an incandescent luminous radiator. The surface heating element is constructed as a carrier plate (1), on which on one side, a coating (2) is provided in the direction of the emission. Its material composition has a radiation characteristic near to that of an ideal black body with a total emission property near to 1, and which converts the heat energy produced into radiation in the IR range. USE/ADVANTAGE - Heating of rooms, containers and similar also for direct heating of living beings. Converts heat energy produced or transferred in or by surface heater in radiation energy. Gives increased efficiency and reduces costs.
