The dimensions for the length sections for the length and width of the flange gasket to be produced are entered in a programme control. Following the ending of the welding or stamping operation for producing the gasket a switch-on command is given from the programme control to a drive motor (31) for a drawing unit. With the starting of the removal unit (3) a counter is activated. The drive motor is switched off, after reaching the length measurement, stored in the programme control unit, for the respective line section and the profile line is clamped at the measuring point is tightly.
