A support framework for stands used in exhibitions and displays is made up of rods of different lengths and cross-sections, joined to each other at different angles by unions. The unions consist of one or several plate-shaped elements arranged over one another and which are rotated in position and then clamped together. The plates have slits which correspond to the shaped ends of the rods. With the direct connection of two or more unions, a prefabricated framework can be designed. The framework is electrically insulated from the supports, but is made of conducting material, supplied with current to power display lights at the unions, thereby dispensing with cables.
