Each floor plate comprises a metal trough filled with mineral material, preferably anhydrite, and with a protruding peripheral flange at the top. Spaces are formed between the plates at their sides. The grid bars(19) are contained in these spaces(18), the flanges (14) of the floor plates(13) being supported on them. Sound-dampening material(23) such as plastics or cork can be fitted between the bars and flanges. Profiled plastics sections can be fitted onto the flanges, resting on the bars. USE/ADVANTAGE - False floor structure greatly increases carrying capacity, particularly at plate edges.
