A metering screw for an injection moulding machine has a multi-varied tip firmly attached to it. A shut-off ring coaxially surrounds the shaft section of the tip and is at a distance from it. The ring is axially movable and in the shut-off position rests on a shoulder of the injection screw. The radial outer ends of the screwtip vanes end in a ring at the rear face against which the shut-off ring sits. Even pressure loading injection is ensured by the annular ring-shaped bearing face. USE/ADVANTAGE - In an injection moulding machine with a metering screw. Reduces wear at the screw tip and increases time between maintenance or screw interchange.
