The wire stripper has an U-shaped body (1), two clamping jaws (2, 3), a fixed handle (4), a swivelling handle (5) and two stripping jaws (6,7). The fixed handle (4) and the lower clamping jaw (2) are one piece. The stripping jaws (6,7), a pull element (8), and the upper clamping jaw (3) are movable. When the swivelling handle (5) is pressed towards the fixed handle (4), the clamping jaws (2, 3) are pressed towards the fixed handle (4).The clamping jaws (2, 3) hold the wire, and the pull element (8) pulls the stripping jaws (2, 3) back relative to the clamping jaws, cutting and stripping the isolator. An attachment (13) blocks the movement of the pull element until the swivelling handle applies a pre-set power to the clamping jaws. This allows hard isolating materials to be stripped away easily. ADVANTAGE - Wires with hard isolator are stripped easily.
