In a method for producing an interior trim part for vehicles, especially a car headlining, a staple-fibre nonwoven consisting of drawn polyethylene terephthalate fibres and of fibrous binding constituents is exposed, at least once in the method, to a heat-treatment process which influences the drawn polyethylene terephthalate fibres and which drastically increases the thermal stability of the trim part. A trim part thus produced is also claimed.
