Servo activated parking brake for vehicle - is operated by normal brake pedal while selector switch is held by driver, and is released by operation of brake pedal while switch is pressed again

The normal brake pedal operates the brakes directly. The servo motor (19) is coupled to the brake linkage by a self locking clutch and is activated when a control switch (23) is pressed. The switch can be fitted in a convenient site for easy reach by the driver. To release the parking brake the driver presses the brake pedal and releases the parking brake by a second application of the control switch. The brakes are then released manually in a controlled manner e.g. for hill starting. The parking brake cannot be released with the engine switched off. USE/ADVANTAGE - All types of vehicle. No need for handbrake lever, fail-safe operation, no separate brake pedal required.
