The chamber (1) has a floor (5) and ceiling (6), fixed end walls (4) and an intermediate chamber wall (2) which can slide in either direction (9 or 10) with continuity maintained by springs (3) in contact with the screening (7) on the interior surfaces. The equipment under test (8) is placed within a resonant cavity tuned by movement of the intermediate chamber wall. The Q of the chamber can be increased by a factor of 2.5 to 25 by coatings of tin, copper, gold or silver. ADVANTAGE - Test field strength is increased significantly (by 30 dB or more) to overcome problems of variability in amplifiers, antennas and cabling.
