Band filter appts consists of a container divided into two parts by a perforated floor across which a fibrous filter band is moved by a traction roller. A novel feature of the traction roller (1) is that a comb-like strip (3) is attached to its radial surface (2) and the tines of the comb engage the material of the filter band. A brush may be used in place of the comb-like strip. The comb or brush is applied to the roller in the form of a series of rings, between which are spaces (4) for the scrapers (5) which remove the accumulated filter cake from the filter band. These scrapers are opt. in the form of radially fixed rings which are mounted eccentric to the traction roller, their eccentricity being slightly larger than the height of the tines of the comb. The tines of the comb or brush may project radially or may be inclined towards or away from the direction of rotation of the roller, and may be composed of a single material or a mixt. of different materials. USE/ADVANTAGE - In band filters, esp. for cleaning cooling/lubricating media. Provides even distribution of the traction force over the width of the filter band, without requiring any alterations to the structure of the band itself.
