Depilatory cosmetic which is stable on storage and non-irritant to skin - contains N,N'-propylene:urea and e.g. thioglycolate and has basic pH

A depilatory cosmetic (a) contains 0.1-20 wt.% of N,N'- propyleneurea, (b) has a basic pH and (c) contains 1-20% of thioglycolate and/or thiolactate and/or cysteine and/or cysteamine and/or sulphite. Pref. amts. are (a) 0.5-10% and (c) 2-10%. The alkali is Ca(OH)2 and the pH is 11-12. ADVANTAGE - The compsn. acts more quickly, is stable on storage, has an alkali content reduced by 30-80%, does not irritate the skin, and has better foam properties when used in an aerosol container
