A device for sliding a curtain into or out of a curtain rail has an insertion gate (1) and an adapter (40) which can be positively fitted to the insertion gate and a curved running profile (41) corresponding to the running profile of the curtain rail and extending towards the latter, fitted with an engagement device (44) at the end opposite the insertion gate (1). The insertion gate (1) has a basic body with a bridge (6) pivoted at one end on the basic body (2) and terminating obliquely at its other end which is fitted with a spring-loaded slide lock. The adapter (40) has a projection (47) to open the slide lock. The slide lock han an actuating head (33) with a recess to engage with the projection (47) of the adapter (44). The running profile (41) of the adapter (40) is extended as a rod at its curved section, the running profile thus prolonging, or there is an extension rod with corresponding means of engagement.
