A new silicone-elastomer hose has an outer dia. of greater than 4.5mm, and a wall thickness of greater than or equal to 0.5 mm in its undilated condition. The hose is fed with oxygen gas under pressure and is stretched to at least twice its original dia. producing a value of 1.14-1.06 for the ratio of outer dia. to inner dia.. The hose pref. has a valve or stopper at one end, and is enclosed in a cover consisting of a fine network of inelastic plastic, textile or metallic fibres. The mesh width of this network is approx. 0.5 to 1.0 times the undilated outer dia. of the hose. USE/ADVANTAGE - For introducing oxygen into water, esp. in natural and artificial ponds, for the oxygenation of organic substances. The proposed hose keeps the escape of oxygen in the form of bubbles rising to the liq. surface to a minimum, is simple and economic to produce, and provides adequate permeability per unit length
