The plug (2) and the socket (4) are fitted together with two sealing rings (28, 130) which are movable out of their seatings. A simple O-ring (28) is designed to slide along a ramp on the edge of a rotatable bayonet ring (20) surrounding the casing (10) of the plug. The other ring (130) has a U-section with one limb (134) extending approximately in the direction of movement of the plug. A concavity in the outer surface of this limb gives a position of preferential bending under compression when the ring is deformed. ADVANTAGE - Shocks when plug and socket are fitted together are reduced or damped.
