Gas flushing brick for metallurgical vessels in which the gas feeding channels are inclined slightly to the vertical axis of the brick. The channels are parallel to each other. The inclined channels pref. run the whole length of the channel section with a pref. inclined angle of 1-10 deg. to the vertical. The channels may be made by plate sections fitted agianst each other with intermittent grooves formed in the plates. Alternatively the channels are formed by spacer holders located between the plates. The plates are surrounded by gas-tight ceramic covers. ADVANTAGE - Despite the fact that the brick is never exactly vertically fixed into the bottom of the vessel, the gas flow from the channels is always directed towards the centre of the vessel thereby avoiding premature wear to the top side of the vessel.
