The detector includes a digital signal processor (DSP) which derives a digital signal representing the rotation rate from the output signal of the fibre ring interferometer (FR1). A circuit branch with a lock-in-amplifier (LIV) derives an analogue signal representing the rotation rate from the output signal of the fibre ring interferometer. This is digitised (ADC2) and delayed (VZ) by a time required by the processor to derive the rotation rate. The deviation of the analogue path signal from the processor signal is used to control a correction element (KG). ADVANTAGE - Derives a rotation rate signal very accurately and with minimum dead time.
