The surgical instrument (1) is for intra-operative repositioning of thoracic and lumbar vertebra fractures. It consists of a tube which encloses a bar which can be locked relative to the tube. The tube supports a rotatable external member which is equipped with three adjustable hooks. The lower end of the tube has an opening in its wall to receive a ball which is attached to a plate. The ball is held between the lower end face of the bar and the lower end wall of the tube. The ball enables the plate to be positionally adjusted through an angle of 90 deg. to 120 deg. USE/ADVANTAGE - Repositioning of spinal fractures. The instrument can be used without causing damage to the spinal cord.
