For waste liq. purificn. in a physical-chemical action, using electron irradiation, at least a partial waste flow together with a gas stream contg. oxygen is exposed to electron irradiation. After irradiation, the gas stream contg. ozone is stirred within the waste to be treated. Pref. the waste to be cleaned is mixed intensively during irradiation. The recirculating gas stream contains 0.1-10.0 g ozone/litre3 and pref. 0.1-1.0 g ozone/litre 3. The gas contg. ozone is applied to the waste, in a counter stream, in a second stage in a vessel (7), to pass through the waste during irradiation, pref. together with an intensive waste mixing action. In the gas flow circuit, the gas is cleaned of any carried particles after passing through the waste. USE/ADVANTAGE - The technique is for initial cleaning of waste from industry, or seepage water from rubbish dumps, before biological purificn. The system gives an economic method for treating waste with ozone and direct waste radiation.
