The device has a carriage, which is moved in a trench under and at right angles to, the rails carrying the vehicle. The carriage has lifting elements with a height-adjustable bridge. This carries a rail section, to hold, lower, and lift the bogie, and move sidewards with the vehicle. The bridge (7) has a top accessible platform (9), with the integrated rail section (8). A second track (2) at a distance to the bridge, carries a second similar platform (10) with integrated track section. The platform consists of two pivoted parts, with access (12) to the trench (4). The bridge has two opposite consoles with centering rollers (13). When the vehicle is in an end position, the rollers act with a guide profile (14), to align the rail section (8) with the track (2).
