A pneumatic tyre has a carcass, esp. a radial carcass, reinforced by a belt-like running strip with an additional wound cover of heat shrinkable cords or strip. The strips near the middle of the tread have a different modulus from those nearer the shoulder. A tyre for high speed running has strip material chosen from polyamide, polyester, rayon, aromatic polyamide, carbon fibre and is made up of different cord construction, esp. singles, two or three ply. The middle has a high modulus single layer and the shoulder has low modulus multi-layers. USE/ADVANTAGE - The construction gives improved dimensional stability during high speed running
