Mfg. commutator contact plate with uniformly distributed grooves - sawing in planes parallel to envelope lines through two bodies bonded together after slight relative rotation
Mfg. commutator contact plate with uniformly distributed grooves - sawing in planes parallel to envelope lines through two bodies bonded together after slight relative rotation
Plates are formed from bodies of rotation assembled together so that one body (6) esp. of tungsten-copper alloy, shaped as a disc with grooves (5a) in its periphery, is fitted into the rim of the other body (1). In this position the two are braced together and grooved in a single operation. They are then rotated relatively through an angle corresp. to half of that subtended by the sum of the groove width and spacing for bonding together, e.g. with hard solder. The plates are sepd. by narrow saw-cuts in radial planes. ADVANTAGE - The plates, guaranteed to have practically identical dimensions and tolerances, are more easily mfd. with high precision.
