An on site process for restoration and clearing of contaminated earth mud and water. The contamination, esp. of organic form may be electrically neutral and not or only slightly polarisable. An electric field is applied to the contaminated region (in a known manner). A sound wave field is applied to the same region. Finally in oxidising agent is used within the contaminated region. The oxidising agent may be ionic, nonionic or amphoteric. If need be ozone or organic peroxide can be used. The electric and sound fields can be constant or pulsed. The oxidising agent is in a water circulation cycle through the affected region and operating equipment. ADVANTAGE - The ground mud etc) is not damaged biologically by the process. The sound field raises the permeability of the ground, which holds to concentrate the contamination at the electrodes. The electric field continuity is improved by the sound field. For a given electrical appts. the presence of a sound wave field enables a larger volume (of earth) to be restored. Costs are reduced and the process is widely applicable.
