Alloying box holding hard material and/or hard metal particles in the cavity of a casting mould consists of one or several perforated steel sheets (1) surrounding the interior of the box wholly or partially and joined through spot welds (3). Perforations occupy at least 30% of the surface and are smaller than the particle size. ADVANTAGE - Cost-effective method of providing wear resistance in castings.
