In order to produce separable zip fasteners (11) in which the teeth (12), the top end pieces and the bottom end pieces (16, 17) are of plastic and are fitted in an injection process to mutually parallel tapes (19, 21), the bottom end pieces (16, 17) being substantially U-shaped, narrow-legged plastic components (38, 39) with yoke regions (41) surrounding the inner edge collars (22) of the tapes (19, 21) and with longitudinal legs (38, 39) connected to said yoke regions (41), those sections of the tapes (19, 21) on which the bottom end pieces (16, 17) are injected being reinforced by welded plastic films (24), it is proposed that perforations (43), to be made in the reinforcing regions (23/I, 23/II) in which their legs (38, 39) form anchoring bridges (42) joined together in one piece when the bottom end pieces (16, 17) are injected, be made with a defined cross-section at a punching station remote from the welding station at which the reinforcing films (24) are welded on, before the tapes (19, 21) thus prepared are taken to the injection station.
