The system comprises supporting fins (1) spaced apart in the horizontal direction and suspended vertically via their top ends, containing oblong recesses open to the outer edges and inclined upwards. The mouths of the recesses are shut off by closing plates (5, 6) welded to the fins. The plates are welded along the fin edges (1a, 1b) at one or more points (7, 8), and slide along them at other points (8, 9) clear of the first ones under the effect of heat-expansion. There can be a pair of holding plates (9, 10) sliding along opposite sides of the fin, each guided by a further plate working against the opposite fin edge. The closing plates can be welded to the fins at the top, while the holding plates are at the bottom. USE/ADVANTAGE - Supports horizontal heater-tube sections, particularly of a coil in a stem-generator. Accommodates differences in lengthwise expansion between fins and plates.
