A soft martensitic stainless steel contain (in wt.%) 12.5-16.5 Cr; 35-6 Ni; max 1.5 Mo; max 0.05 C; max 1.5 Mn; max 1 Si; max 0.1 Al; max 0.1 Ti; 0.05-0.12 N; 0.07-0.3V; max 0.15 Nb; with balance Fe plus impurities. ADVANTAGE - The addition of N, V and Nb enables secondary hardening by tempering which improves the strength and toughness.
