Automobile headlamp reflector beam setting system - has readily assembled mechanism permitting micro-adjustment of reflector using standard socket=head screwdriver

A beam setting mechanism (3) for the pivoted reflector (37) of a motor-vehicle headlamp assembly is incorporated in the fixed housing (2) of the assembly and controls vertical plane movement. A compound toothed wheel (12) comprises the large wheel (30) and bevel wheel (11) which rotate together in a boss in the housing (2) wall retained by the clip-on cap (19). The wheel (11) meshes with a further bevel wheel (31) attached to a bolt (32) whose threads (35) engage with a tapped projection on the reflector (37). An aperture in the cap (19) permits the insertion of a socket-head screwdriver (26) whose flutes match the teeth of the wheel (30) such that its rotation varies the reflector (37) inclination. ADVANTAGE - Is a convenient means of setting head lamp beam which permits micro-adjustment of assembly. Employs small number of lowest easily moulded components and mechanism can be fully assembled from outside housing.
