The engine uses eccentric plates to act as a counterbalance to the moving parts. The piston (7) connecting rod (5) and crank shaft are of normal design. Fitted at either side of the connecting rod base are plates (13). These are symmetrical about one axis but are eccentrically fitted in relation to the crankshaft. These plates move vertically as the shaft rotates and are held laterally by the running surfaces (15, 16). The plate runs on a roller bearing (23). ADVANTAGE - Full counter balance force produced using a low amount of production effort.
