Sewing neck-band around neck of garment including inside label - includes simultaneously dispensing neck-band material to sewing point and fitting together with garment w.r.t. automatic stitch count

In a process to sew on a neck-band, around the neck of a garment, and to include an inside label beneath the back of the band, garment is placed on the machine, and at the same time the neck-band material is automatically dispensed to the sewing point. The fitting together coincides with the stitch count automatically, with the count beginning at a shoulder hem. The label is positioned and sewn in similarly. The sewing machine has a stitch mechanism (40) at one end, and a stitch counter at the other end. This works in conjunction with an electronic monitor which performs the calculation when the sensor unit (79) encounters the shoulder hem of the garment. Sewing then commences, and the neck-band material is guided and measured through (62,63), from a reel of material, working in conjunction with the sensor (79), the plate (67) with the hole (68) for the sensor light. The presserfoot (80) descends and stitching commences, with a calculated number of stitches and also a measurement of time. Progress may be monitored, and the operator has a control panel, so that the machine can be adapted to various sizes of garment. ADVANTAGE - The garment is quickly processed, with a considerable saving in operator supervision. The quality is enhanced by correct fitting and sewing, and the position of the label. The operator can see the machine in operation, and check the process.
