Digital signal coding method e.g. for computer network - generating data pulses with three or more pulse widths dependent on pulse widths and polarities of preceding pulse(s)

Th e coding method is for digital signals which represent the logic levels "1" or "0" and which take on the signal value within a bit period which is determined by the data rate. The maximum pulse width of the data pulses is equal to half a bit period. An insignificant compensation pulse is inserted between two pulses of the same polarity . The data pulses are produced with at least three different pulse widths (A,B,C) and each pulse width depends on the pulse widths and polarity of the preceding pulse, pref. the two preceding pulses. The pulse widths of sequential pulses are always different. ADVANTAGE - Allows plausibility check by detecting inconsistency of one pulse w.r.t. previous pulses.
