Loading control for pneumatic sprung double axle - has pressure sensors on main axle controlling diversion of excess load to secondary axle to maintain traction on main axle
The pressure sensors (3) on the main axle (1) prevent overloading of that axle by diverting pneumatic pressure, from the pumped supply (8), to the secondary axle (4). The control valves (10) reduce the main axle loading back to the maximum, with the excess load taken by the secondary axle. If the total loading is below the main axle maximum level then the secondary axle is totally free, and can be lifted off the road. A three way valve (10) between the axles connects the axles, disconnects the axles, and in a third setting disconnects the axles while venting the secondary axle. One pressure sensor can operate on the whole system or each side of the vehicle can have a separate control. ADVANTAGE - Simple load distribution control which ensures maximum traction for main axle.
