A vehicle disk brake assembly (1) has an actuator (2) forming a braking band (4) on a disk (3) face. Brake backplates (5) sit in the caliper, and locate via hooks (15) at the rear of the backplate when viewed in relation to the disk direction of rotation. A means upon which the hook locates (14,17) is provided on the caliper. ADVANTAGE - Reduced noise and vibration, ease of pad removal/insertion.
