The position detection device has magnetic proximity switches (16) pref. having reed contacts adjacent one another within a housing (1) and separated via intermediate screening plates (12), so that each is operated in turn by a switch magnet, dependent on the position of the latter. One wall of the housing (1) has a series of spaced windows (7) through which the respective proximity switches (16) are fitted, to bring each into contact with a pair of contact clips provided by a circuit board (13). USE/ADVANTAGE - Simple installation and fitting for monitoring position of lift etc.
