The overhead pan balance (6) has a cylindrical wind shield with a cylindrical plate (1) which can be radially displaced in the cylindrical cover surface. The cylinder axis is horizontal. The cylindrically curved plate encloses an angle of between 200 and 300 degrees and is positioned so that the remaining opening of 60 to 160 degrees can be positioned to the left or right of, or above, the weighing pan. The plate is mounted with no stops, so that it can be rotated more than 360 degrees. The weighing pan is held from behind by a shrouded arm (7). USE/ADVANTAGE - Eg for use as dust measurement balance. Wind shield affords more useful access to weighing pan.
