Metal vapour laser (I), e.g. HeCd+, HeSe+ or HeZn+ laser, is excited with hf energy transverse to the axis of the laser tube. Second tube is arranged parallel to the laser tube. Metal is uniformly vaporised over its length and is led over several connecting channels to the laser tube. ADVANTAGE - Laser has low noise with homogeneity
