The installation for electric inductive heating and subsequent quenching for surface hardening of contiguous crank journals of a crankshaft has two inductors (12) arranged diametrically opposite on the crank journals (11a) and (11b). The width (b) of the inductors is less than the recess width (s), while the length of their arc-shaped effective application area is at least equal to the overlap arc of the two journals. The installation is characterised by the fact that the width (b) of the inductors is less than the width (e) of the journal back (11c). USE/ADVANTAGE - In crankshaft manufacture. It allows the surfaces of the transition regions between the two crank journals and between the crank journals and the crank cheeks to be satisfactorily hardened.
