The fold-away bed has a mattress frame (6) which when not in use is inside a cupboard (2) the open front of which is closed by a front panel (8). The pivot axle is situated at the overlap between the head of the lengthwise mattress frame-parts and the cupboard sides (3). Lever-type fitments (9) rest on fixture-plates (16). A pre-stressed tension spring or tensioning-piece points towards the ends of the frame lengthwise parts. A parallelogram in the form of a double-link is movably mounted on a strut (19) on pivot-levers (14, 15) supported on the fixture-plate. The strut is joined to the mattress-frame by a bolt (23) screwed through at least one plate. USE/ADVANTAGE - The mattress frame pivots on a horizontal axle between a horizontal position for use when it has a larger recliner-surface at a comfortable height, and a vertical position.
