The mould is made up of cylindrical pins (4) constituting lengths of wire (5) covered with a ceramic material (6). The pins are held in mould box (3), with central axes parallel to one another and perpendicular to the face planes of the mould box. The mould is pref. produced by moving the closely paced pins against the surface of a pattern or a pattern part in a mould box - which is mounted on a structure having a vibrator and buffer elements - and fastening the pins to one another and to the mould box by displacement of the movable box sides (7). Moulds comprising several parts produced are obtd. by a subsequent assembly process. Ejectors (13) pref. have guide bushes (12). USE/ADVANTAGE - Used in metal casting plants. The moulds have low heat conduction capacity. Special ventilation measures are unrequired and may be produced rapidly with low plant costs.
