When the shut-off piston (28) is moved the volume is compensated by a compensating element (40) designed as a piston base (41) such as a membrane, moving in the longitudinal direction of the piston. The end face (47) of the piston sleeve (30) on the side of the piston base interacts with a sealing seat (15) of the fitting. During operation of the spindle the piston (28) moves only vertical. It has a piston lid (29) through which one or two anti-rotation rods (33) are passed. The rods are fixed on the housing and prevent the piston from rotating when the spindle is operated.
