The free end of the spindle (4) has an assembly section (9) of smaller dia. on which an annulus (20) for vibration damping is fitted. The section extends through a clearance hole in the annulus and is secured to it with a split ring (12). The inner surface of the hole features a helical groove (22) which takes up any lubricant and maintains the effectiveness of vibration damping. ADVANTAGE - Degradation of damping effect by lubricant entering space between inner surface of through hole in annulus and the outer surface of assembly section is reduced.
