The suspension has sensors (14) which measure variation in height of the vehicle at the corners of the bodywork. The resulting signals are low-pass filtered (40) and applied via dead-zone threshold circuits (47) to calculation units determining rebound, tilt and roll components (41-43). These components are regulated (44-46) by operation of proportional control valves on the supply of hydraulic fluid to cylinders of the suspension units. The fluid motion is corrected in accordance with the direction of vertical acceleration measured by three accelerometers at the vehicle waist-line level. ADVANTAGE - Comfort of passengers and proper variation in height of vehicle are improved.
