The antenna is coupled to a coaxial lead cable (2) and has an antenna wire (4) and an earth wire (5) respectively coupled to the inner and outer conductors of the coaxial cable. The earth wire (5) runs parallel to the top edge of the windscreen (6) for capacitive coupling with the adjacent roof panel, the antenna wire (4) extending at right angles to the earth wire (5) adjacent the front windscreen column. Pref. the earth wire (5) has a greater length than the antenna wire (4), each coupled to the coaxial cable (2) via a coupling (21) in the top right- or left-hand corner of the windscreen.
