Cloth continuous pretreatment using recycled chlorine di:oxide - from bleaching in acidification stage, followed by desizing, washing and bleaching to reduce process time

In a continuous pretreatment of a breadth of cloth, the cloth is acidified with chlorite, using the ClO2 liberated in the subsequent bleaching treatment, before desizing, washing and bleaching. Acidification is carried out in a NaClO2 soln. prepd. by absorbing the ClO2 gas in a soln. of H2O2 and NaOH. The cloth is immersed in this soln. for 20-30 secs., then steamed for 22-30 secs.. The appts. chambers for acidification (7), desizing (12), washing (15) and bleaching (17) in this sequence in the cloth transport direction. ADVANTAGE - Acidification in this way reduces the treatment time to ca. 1/6th to 1/8th the normal pretreatment time. This eliminates the need to fold the cloth and improves its quality. recycling the ClO2 improves the economy.
