Elastomer-polymer film composites bonded with elastomer based adhesive - useful replacement for rubberised fabrics in protective clothing

A bonding adhesive is used in the mfr. of elastomer-film composites, esp. elastomer-polyvinylidene fluoride film or elastomer-polyvinyl fluoride composites. Pref. bonding adhesives are comprised of an elastomer mixt. of 10-70 wt.% polyoctenylene, 85-20 wt.% chloroprene and 5-10 wt.% chlorosulphonated polyethylene in a solvent mixt. of 10-90 wt.% aromatic solvents, 20-7 wt.% esters and 70-3 wt.% aliphatic solvents, with a rubber solids:solvent ratio in the adhesive of 1:1 to 1:1.5. USE/ADVANTAGE - The elastomer-film composites are useful as protective materials and in the prodn. of protective clothing for civil and military applications, esp. as a replacement for conventional rubberised fabric, with which the elastomer-film composites have a comparable performance whilst being cheaper and lighter in wt. so that the composite materials are less tiring to wear.
