The deflection apparatus includes a core (4) made from magnetic material. The core includes a first core section (41) and a core extension section (42). The core sections and the deflection winding (5,6) of the deflection yoke are coupled together so that the position of the core extension section is adjustable w.r.t. the first core section. The adjustment alters the deflection field to correct the convergency error. ADVANTAGE - Adjustment of convergence symmetry is separated from adjustment of picture geometry.
