Electrical power supply system for automobiles - has HV generator and DC converter coupled to LV battery with converter controlled to reduce power losses
The electrical power supply system has a 48 Volt electrical generator (1), a 48 Volt battery and a coupled blower motor (3) as a load-connected via a switch (31) operated by a driver. A DC/DC converter (4) produces 12 Volts and is connected with a 12 Volt battery (7) coupled to lights (secondary load) (5), a speed sensor (30) and a load elements (50). An ammeter (A) provides an input to a power controller (8). Switches (51,20) control the connection of the secondary loads with the low voltage battery. The controller operates to reduce the operating period of the DC/DC converter to minimise the energy loss. USE/ADVANTAGE - Reduces power loss in electrical system of automobile.
